the Color Doctor to host workshop at The Woman’s Club

A nationally recognized color design consultant, John Crosby Freeman (aka the Color Doctor) will offer a workshop at The Woman’s Club (211 E. Franklin Street) on Wed., Oct. 15, 2 pm. The event is free and open to the public. Reservations may be made at 804.643.2847 x. 10.

Even when you narrow down your basic preferences for architectural color, you still have dozens of variations to consider.If you’re starting from scratch, the Color Doctor can coach you with time-tested options. If you find yourself in trouble with color, he has advice for how to counteract it. Painting a house or a single room is a reflection of you, your taste, and the architectural style and character of your home. So do it with confidence and rediscover the joy of color.

The Color Doctor was recently featured in Old-House Journal. Nearly 20 years ago, he developed Southern Heritage interior, exterior and accent color cards for Valspar at Lowe’s, which evolved into the National Trust for Historic Preservation American Tradition palette. The Color Doctor has written thousands of successful prescriptions for architectural colors and is now on call in the Richmond area exclusively through Old House Authority. East Grace Street between North 5th Street and North 6th Street will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic Thursday, October 2 – Friday, October 3 from 9AM to 3PM. Crews will barricade this portion of East Grace Street to operate a manlift. As an alternate route, motorists should turn left onto North 6th Street, right onto East Main Street, right onto North 4th Street, and left to continue traveling on East Grace Street. Detours will be clearly marked by signage and barricades.

Volunteers Needed for In-Light Richmond at the Richmond Public Library

Children’s activities will be held at the main library to explore “light.” The Science Museum’s Star Lab and the SPCA will be at the library as well. Mo Roman … has just signed the deal for a new Italian bistro in downtown Richmond.

Pie will be a gourmet pizza spot with an open kitchen design, street-side windows and outdoor seating in the Berry-Burk building at 525 E. Grace St., across from the in-progress Richmond CenterStage performing-arts project.
