Insiders and employees of MG and the RTD know quite well that Nate Sams, owner, chief cook and bottle washer of Louisiana Flair at 322 E Grace Street is the real deal when it when it comes to down home creole cookin’. Nate has been cooking since he was 9 years old when his Dad taught him to cook fried chicken. Born in Mandeville, LA on the shores of Lake Ponchartrain he brings 33 years of professional experience to his Monroe Ward restaurant.
Major changes are on the horizon. Currently serving breakfast, lunch and early dinner from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Nate plans to close for breakfast and open late (9:00 PM) for dinner. Cajun music is always playing in the background and specials change daily along with the regular fare of po’ boys and gumbo. Expect to see live music once they are open for dinner next month.
